Another reason Amazon is taking over the World!

Posted on July 2, 2020July 2, 2020 by admin

My boat has a teak planked cockpit, both seats and floor. It is glued down so no screws. I have never done anything to it except clean it with soap and water. After 18 years the grain was raised and the caulking was proud, so I decided to give it a light sand.

I did not have a power sander. I did a little hand sanding but found it slow and uneven. I decided to buy one of the new (to me) 5″ orbital sanders. I went to FOUR local stores to look for one. Canadian Tire had a lineup of 20+ people waiting at the door. The guy monitoring the line said it would be an hour wait to get. I went to the next place on my list, Rona. They have two stores in my area. Both had the sanders on display, but none for sale. As a last resort I went to the GIANT Home Depot store in Vancouver. The same story.

Two minutes on my phone at Amazon.ca and I found this:

It was about the same price as the units (not) for sale at the Big Boxes, but included a variety of sanding disks and buffers too. Free overnight delivery with Amazon Prime. I ordered one. In the next post I’ll show the results.
